The Sea of Galilee Tiberias Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Tiberias, Israel. The official name of the event is Sea of Galilee Tiberias International Winner Marathon. Around 4,500 athletes participate in the marathon race and other competitions. In 2020, 1,120 runners completed the marathon, and 1,485 finished the half marathon.

The inaugural Tiberias Marathon was established in 1977, marking Israel’s first international marathon competition.

The Sea of Galilee (יָם כִּנֶּרֶת), aka Lake Tiberias, Kinneret or Kinnereth, is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth. Therefore, the Tiberias Marathon is considered the world’s “lowest” marathon, with its course ranging between 208 and 191 meters below sea level.
