The New Year Zurich Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Zurich, Switzerland. The official name of the event is Neujahrsmarathon Zürich. About 1 100 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (216 completed marathon and 417 finished half marathon in 2020).
Runners from 52 countries participated in the 2020 race which started with the very first second of the new year.
In 2020 Astrid Roberts Feyer from Switzerland set a new women’s race record of the New Year Zurich Marathon — 2:59:18.
The New Year Zurich Marathon is the first in the calendar of running events certified by AIMS. The winners of the races (including national best time) hold World Athletics/AIMS world leading times as of 1 January. We are the champions, my friend. At least till the next AIMS certified running competition.
The New Year Zurich Marathon entry fee is the smallest of the Switzerland marathons.

Quarter Marathon race, 10.548 km
The quarter marathon race of 10.548 km starts together with the marathon at 0:00 1 January 2021 (Friday) inside the sports hall «Unterrohr» in Schlieren (Unterrohrstrasse 2, 8952 Schlieren).
Birth year of the participants: 2011 and earlier.
Entry fee: 29—57 € (30—60 CHF).
The course of the New Year Zurich Marathon (Neujahrsmarathon Zürich) 2021 is a lap of 10.55 km (quarter marathon) along the river Limmat.
According to the chosen distance the runner makes 1, 2 or 4 laps, in the end of each lap the runner goes through the sports hall «Unterrohr» in Schlieren (Unterrohrstrasse 2, 8952 Schlieren). You may switch to a shorter distance during the race and be classified on the new distance.
The course is 90% natural surface, 10% asphalt. Total climb is 19 m per lap.
The course is not illuminated. Headlamps are recommended.

Time limit for the marathon distance is 5 hours. The limit may be expanded in case of bad weather.
Refreshment and nutrition stations are located every 5 km along the course. Warm carbohydrate drinks, energy bars, bananas, energy gel, Coca Cola and water are available for the runners.
Small valuables (keys, mobile phones, wallets) can be left for safekeeping at the information desk inside the sports hall «Unterrohr» in Schlieren (Unterrohrstrasse 2, 8952 Schlieren). No bag deposit is available.
On 31 December 2020 (Thursday) starting from 19:00 a restaurant offers meals and beverages in the sports hall «Unterrohr» where the races start and finish.
The route of the New Year Zurich Marathon (Neujahrsmarathon Zürich) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The online registration is open till 27 December 2020 or till the slots last (for the quarter marathon and the half marathon).
It’s possible to buy the Race Pack on 31 December 2020 from 19:00 till 23:00 in the sports hall «Unterrohr» in Schlieren (Unterrohrstrasse 2, 8952 Schlieren) if slots are still available.
The entry fee for the New Year Zurich Marathon (Neujahrsmarathon Zürich) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:

from 1 November till 17 December 2020 — 67 € (70 CHF);
18—27 December 2020 — 76 € (80 CHF);
31 December 2020 (late registration) — 85 € (90 CHF).
The entry fee for the New Year Zurich Half Marathon 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 October 2020 — 38 € (40 CHF);
from 1 November till 17 December 2020 — 48 € (50 CHF);
18—27 December 2020 — 57 € (60 CHF);
31 December 2020 (late registration) — 67 € (70 CHF).
The time is measured using electronic DataChips which are fixed on the race bibs. If you don’t return the chip after the race you will be charged 38 € (40 CHF).
Promotion 1+1: bring a volunteer and start for free! A volunteer registered before 17 December 2020 may fill in the comment field (Kommentar) the runner’s information and get a free entry for him.
Your Marathon or Half Marathon Race Entry includes:
