The Marrakech Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Marrakech, Morocco. The official name of the event is Marathon & Semi Marathon International de Marrakech. About 8.000 athletes take part in Marathon race and other competitions (1.376 completed marathon and 6.932 finished half marathon in 2020).

The Marrakech Marathon is held under High Patronage of his Majesty the King Mohammed VI.

A Moroccan 14-year-old Nadia Ouaziz-Colombero won the women’s race of the 1st Marrakech Marathon in 1987 and became one of the youngest ever winners of an international level marathon.

In 2020 Marrakech Marathon race record was broken by Moroccan Hicham Laqouahi — 2:06:22.

You may run Morocco marathon or half marathon in October in Casablanca (Marathon International de Casablanca) and in January in Fes (Marathon International de Fès).

The marathon race of 42.195km starts at 8:30 19 September 2021 (Sunday) from Avenue Prince Moulay Rachid behind Sofitel hotel and close to Mamounia hotel.

Age limit: from 17 years old on the date of the race.

Half Marathon race, 21.097km (Semi Marathon International de Marrakech)

The half marathon race of 21.097km starts at 9:30 19 September 2021 (Sunday) from Avenue Prince Moulay Rachid behind Sofitel hotel and close to Mamounia hotel.

Age limit: from 15 years old on the date of the race.

Course

The roundtrip course of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021 starts at the old city gates and runs through olive fields in the Agdal Gardens with magnificent panorama of the Atlas Mountains in full view. Further, the route passes along the outskirts of Marrakech and leads to the golf resort La Palmeraie, the most exotic part of the route, where participants run surrounded by palm trees and camels, and then they return to the center of Marrakech.

Time limit for the marathon distance is 5 hours 30 minutes, for the half marathon distance — 3 hours.

Water and nutrition stations are located every 5km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, fruits, refreshing sponges.

The route of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Registration

You may sign up for races of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021 online.

The online registration is open till 13 September 2021.

If slots are available you may sign up for the races 17—18 September 2021 (Friday and Saturday) at the Marathon Village (Place du 16 Novembre, Harti gardens in Marrakech Gueliz) next to the Gueliz central post office.

The entry fee for the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021 for foreign runners is 70 €.

The entry fee for the Marrakech Half Marathon (Semi Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021 for foreign runners is 50 €.

There are special discounted rates for Morocco citizens and residents.

Your Marathon or Half marathon Race Entry includes:

You may pick up the Race Pack with your bib number in the tent ESCAPADES of the Marathon Village (Place du 16 Novembre, Harti gardens in Marrakech Gueliz) next to the Gueliz central post office.

To get your Race Pack you should show your ID with photo (passport).

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2021.
