The Marrakech Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Marrakech, Morocco. The official name of the event is Marathon & Semi Marathon International de Marrakech. Around 8,000 athletes participate in the marathon race and other competitions. In 2023, 837 runners completed the marathon, and 6,095 finished the half marathon.

The Marrakech Marathon is held under the High Patronage of his Majesty King Mohammed VI.

In 1987, a Moroccan 14-year-old, Nadia Ouaziz-Colombero, won the women’s race of the 1st Marrakech Marathon, becoming one of the youngest ever winners of an international-level marathon.

You have the opportunity to participate in a marathon or half marathon in October in Casablanca (Marathon International de Casablanca) and in January in Fes (Marathon International de Fès).

The roundtrip course of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024 starts at the old city gates and runs alongside the city’s 12th-century ramparts, through the Menara gardens, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Runners pass along the outskirts of Marrakech on dusty roads lined with palm trees, through olive fields in the Agdal Gardens, with a magnificent panorama of the Atlas Mountains in full view. Then, they make their way back to the center of Marrakech.

The course of the Marrakech Half Marathon (Semi Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024 partly coincides with the marathon distance; it turns back towards the finish after crossing Route de Fès.

The start and finish of the Marrakech Marathon and Half Marathon (Marathon & Semi Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024 are located at Avenue Prince Moulay Rachid, behind the Sofitel hotel and close to the Mamounia hotel.

The time limit for the marathon distance is 5 hours and 30 minutes, and for the half marathon distance, it’s 3 hours.

Water and nutrition stations are located every 5km along the route and at the finish. These stations provide runners with drinking water, fruit, and refreshing sponges.

The route of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The entry fee for the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024, applicable to foreign runners, is €70.

The entry fee for the Marrakech Half Marathon (Semi Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024, for foreign runners, is €50.

Special discounted rates are available for Moroccan citizens and residents.

26—27 January 2024 (Friday and Saturday) from 9:30 to 19:30.

To receive your Race Pack, you must present your photo ID (passport).

No health certificate is required to participate in any race of the Marrakech Marathon (Marathon International de Marrakech) 2024.
