The Houston Marathon and Half Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Houston, state of Texas, USA. The official names of the marathon and half marathon are Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon. About 26.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (6.274 runners completed marathon and 11.245 finished half marathon in 2022).

The Chevron Houston Marathon 2023 is a qualifying event for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships.

The Chevron Houston Marathon is an official Boston Qualifier.

In 2021 the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon were cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Virtual races were held instead.

The course of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2023 tracks through the streets and parks of the city, several times it crosses the Buffalo Bayou river.

Mile signs and clocks are posted at every mile of the route.

The participants of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) and Half Marathon (Aramco Houston Half Marathon) 2023 are divided into 5 starting blocks according to the results of the previous races indicated during registration. Runners are allowed to start from the block that is behind their assigned starting position.

You may change your starting block in your participant account till 30 November 2022.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours, for the half marathon — 4 hours. Additional limits are applied for certain points of the course.

The pace makers of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2023 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. Finish times for marathon are following: 3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:05, 4:20, 4:35, 4:50, 5:05, 5:20, 5:55 hours. Half marathon runners may follow the pace makers for the first 8mi/12km of their distance.

Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 1.5mi/2.5km of the route beginning at mile 2 and at the finish. The stations provide runners with water, Gatorade Endurance gel.

Before the start 15 January 2023 (Sunday), you may leave your personal belongings near the start and finish zone in Halls C and D of the George R. Brown Convention Center (1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston). The stuff must be packed in a clear event-issued deposit bag, you should attach to your bag a tag that has your race number on it. The tag and the bag are included in your Race Pack along with your bib number.

The routes of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2023 are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field. The event is one of the World Athletics Gold Label Road Races.

Special entry price and other bonuses are available for the finishers of at least 10 Houston marathons or half marathons — Legacy Runners.

You get a discount for Double registration (Marathon/Half Marathon and 5km Race). Finishers that were registered for both the 5km Race and Marathon or Half Marathon receive a third medal — Houston Double medal.

You may switch to another distance (with surcharge if applicable) for a fee of $20 till 31 October 2022 and for a fee of $40 from 5 January 2023 in your participant account. More info is here.

13 January 2023 (Friday) from 9:00 till 18:00,
14 January 2023 (Saturday) from 8:30 till 17:00.

To get your Race Pack you should show your government issued photo ID, confirmation email (electronic or printed).

You may authorize another person to collect your Race Pack. The collecting person needs to present a copy of your ID (electronic or printed), your printed and signed confirmation letter. A proxy can pick up only one packet other than his own.

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2023.
