The Houston Marathon and Half Marathon are annual long-distance running events held in Houston, state of Texas, USA. The official names of the marathon and half marathon are the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Approximately 26,000 athletes participate in the marathon race and other competitions (6,747 runners completed the marathon, and 13,418 finished the half marathon in 2023).

The Chevron Houston Marathon 2024 is a qualifying event for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships.

The Chevron Houston Marathon is an official Boston Marathon Qualifier.

The half marathon race of 13.1mi/21.097km starts together with the marathon at 7:01 AM on 14 January 2024 (Sunday) on Congress Avenue at Fannin, Houston.

The course of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2024 follows the streets and parks of the city, crossing the Buffalo Bayou river multiple times.

Mile signs and clocks are posted at each mile of the route.

Participants of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) and Half Marathon (Aramco Houston Half Marathon) 2024 are divided into 5 starting blocks based on their previous race results provided during registration. Runners are allowed to start from the block behind their assigned starting position.

You may change your starting block in your participant account until 30 November 2023.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours, and for the half marathon, it is 4 hours. Additional time limits are enforced at certain points along the course.

Pacemakers for the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2024 provide guidance to help finish within specific times. The finish times for the marathon are as follows: 3:00, 3:05, 3:10, 3:20, 3:25, 3:30, 3:35, 3:40, 3:50, 3:55, 4:00, 4:05, 4:10, 4:20, 4:35, 4:45, 4:50, 5:05, 5:20, 5:30, and 5:56 hours. Half marathon runners can follow the pacemakers for the first 8 mi/12 km of their race.

Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 1.5mi/2.5km along the route, starting at mile 2, and at the finish line. These stations provide runners with water, Gatorade Endurance Formula isotonic, and Gatorade Endurance Energy gel.

Before the race on 14 January 2024 (Sunday), you can leave your personal belongings near the start and finish zone in Halls C and D of the George R. Brown Convention Center (1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston). Your belongings must be packed in a clear event-issued deposit bag, and you should attach a tag with your race number to your bag. The tag and the bag are included in your Race Pack along with your bib number.

The routes of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2024 are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field.

The entry fee for the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2024 varies depending on the date of purchase:
tier 1 pricing — $140,
tier 2 pricing — $150,
tier 3 pricing — $165,
tier 4 pricing — $180,
tier 5 pricing — $195.

The entry fee for the Houston Half Marathon (Aramco Houston Half Marathon) 2024 also varies depending on the date of purchase:
tier 1 pricing — $125,
tier 2 pricing — $130,
tier 3 pricing — $140,
tier 4 pricing — $150,
tier 5 pricing — $165.

Special entry prices and other bonuses are available for Legacy Runners, who have completed at least 10 Houston marathons or half marathons.

You get a discount for Double registration (Marathon/Half Marathon and 5km Race). Finishers who were registered for both the 5km Race and Marathon or Half Marathon receive a third medal — the Houston Double medal.

You can switch to another distance (with surcharge if applicable) for a fee of $20 until 31 October 2023, and for a fee of $40 until 4 January 2024, in your participant account. More info is here.

12 January 2024 (Friday) from 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM,
13 January 2024 (Saturday) from 8:30 AM till 5:00 PM.

To collect your Race Pack, you should bring your government issued photo ID and confirmation email (electronic or printed).

You can authorize another person to collect your Race Pack on your behalf. The collecting person needs to present a copy of your ID (electronic or printed) and your printed and signed confirmation letter. A proxy can only pick up one packet other than their own.

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Houston Marathon (Chevron Houston Marathon) 2024.
