The Funchal Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. The official name of the event is Maratona do Funchal. Around 1,300 athletes participate in the marathon race and other competitions. In 2023, 257 completed marathon, and 620 finished half marathon.

A total of 37 nations were represented in the Funchal Marathon 2023.

The Funchal Marathon 2024 is a qualifying event for the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group World Championships.

The Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2024 partially shares the marathon route, consisting of 2 laps on Estrada Monumental avenue towards Praya Formosa beach and 2 laps in the historical centre of Funchal.

The start of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2024 is on Rua do Gorgulho, while the start of the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2024 is on Dr. Pita Street 3. Both races finish at the bus parking lot in front of Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira, located on Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses 32.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours and 30 minutes, while for the half marathon, it is 3 hours.

The pacemakers of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2024 provide the necessary pace to help participants finish within specific times. The target times for the marathon are 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, and 4:30 hours.

Water and nutrition stations are located every 3.1mi/5km along the route and at the finish. These stations provide runners with drinking water, isotonic drinks, fruit, dried fruit, and energy bars.

The route of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2024 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The entry fee for the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2024 varies depending on the date of purchase:
untill 28 February 2023 — €40;
from 1 March to 31 July 2023 — €50;
from 1 August to 31 October 2023 — €60;
from 1 November to 31 December 2023 — €80.

The entry fee for the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2024 varies depending on the date of purchase:
until 31 October 2023 — €30;
from 1 November to 31 December 2023 — €35.

Until 31 December 2023, you have the option to switch to another distance (with an applicable surcharge, if any) or transfer your registration to another person for a fee of €10. No health certificate is required to participate in any race of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2024.
