The Funchal Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. The official name of the event is Maratona do Funchal. About 1.300 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (244 completed marathon and 483 finished half marathon in 2020).
In 2021 the Funchal Marathon was cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
The Funchal Marathon 2022 is a qualifying event for the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group World Championships.

The half marathon race of 13.1mi/21.097km starts at 10:00 23 January 2022 (Sunday) from Dr. Pita Street 3.

The course of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2022 tracks through the streets of the city, makes 4 laps on Estrada Monumental avenue towards Praya Formosa beach and 2 laps in the historical centre of Funchal.
The course of the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2022 partly coincides with the marathon route, it consists of 2 laps on Estrada Monumental avenue towards Praya Formosa beach and 2 laps in the historical centre of Funchal.
Start of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2022 is on Estrada Monumental 153.
Start of the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2022 is on Dr. Pita Street 3.
Finish for all the races is located on Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses.

The time limit for completing the marathon distance is 6 hours 30 minutes, for the half marathon distance there is no time limit.
The pace makers of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2022 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. Target times for marathon are 3:15, 3:30, 4:00 hours.
Water and nutrition stations are located every 3.1mi/5km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, isotonic drink, fruit, dried fruit, energy bars.
The route of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2022 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The entry fee for the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2022 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 October 2021 — €20;
from 1 November till 31 December 2021 — €25;
1—9 January 2022 — €30.
Till 31 December 2021, you may switch to another distance (with surcharge if applicable) or transfer your registration to another person for a fee of €10. Till 9 January 2022 you may cancel your registration in case of sickness or injury (medical certificate is required) and get 50% of the entry fee refund. More info is here.
