The Funchal Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. The official name of the event is Maratona do Funchal. About 1.300 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (244 completed marathon and 483 finished half marathon in 2020).

The Funchal Marathon 2021 is a qualifying event for the 3rd Abbott WMM Wanda Age group World Championships 2022.

Start of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021 is on Estrada Monumental 153.

Finish for all the races is located on Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses.

Time limit for the marathon distance is 6 hours 30 minutes, for the half marathon distance — 4 hours 30 minutes.

The pace makers of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. Target times for marathon are 3:15, 3:30, 4:00 hours.

Water and nutrition stations are located every 5km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, isotonic drink, fruit, dried fruit, energy bars.

The route of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Registration

You may sign up for races of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021 online.

The entry fee for the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 October 2020 — 35 €;
from 1 November till 31 December 2020 — 50 €;
1—10 January 2021 — 60 €.

The entry fee for the Funchal Half Marathon (Meia Maratona do Funchal) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 October 2020 — 20 €;
from 1 November till 31 December 2020 — 25 €;
1—10 January 2021 — 30 €;
11—18 January 2021 — 100 €.

Till 31 December 2020 you may switch to another distance (with surcharge if applicable) or transfer your registration to another person for a fee of 10 €.

Till 9 January 2021 you may cancel your registration in case of sickness or injury (medical certificate is required) and get 50% of the entry fee refund.

Your Marathon or Half Marathon Race Entry includes:

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Funchal Marathon (Maratona do Funchal) 2021.
