The Big Beach Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Gulf Shores, state of Alabama, USA. The official name of the event is The Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon. About 1.200 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (242 runners completed marathon and 520 finished half marathon in 2020).

The Big Beach Marathon is an official Boston Qualifier.

Course

The course of the Big Beach Marathon 2021 tracks through the paved trail system of Gulf State Park — a public recreation area on the Gulf of Mexico, around fresh-water lakes: Lake Shelby, Middle Lake and Little Lake. The last 2 miles of the route are along the road parallel to the white beach.

The course passes on asphalt trail, across wooden bridges and boardwaks over marshes.

Start and finish for the Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon 2021 are near The Hangout Restaurant in Gulf Shores, on 101 E Beach Boulevard.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 7 hours, for the half marathon distance — 3 hours 30 minutes.

Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 1.5 to 2 miles of the route, and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, sports drink.

Before the start 31 January 2021 (Sunday), you may leave your personal belongings near the Start and Finish Line.

The route of the Big Beach Marathon 2021 is certified by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field (USATF).

Registration

You may sign up for races of the Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon 2021 online.

The online registration is open till 29 January 2021.

If slots are available you may sign up for the races 30—31 January 2021 (Saturday — Sunday, including the race day) on the spot.

The entry fee for the Big Beach Marathon 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 March 2020 — $65,
from 1 April till 31 August 2020 — $75,
1—30 September 2020 — $85,
1—31 October 2020 — $90,
1—30 November 2020 — $100,
1—31 December 2020 — $110,
from 1 January 2021 — $120.

Entry fee does not include a sign-up service fee (about 7%).

The entry fee for the Big Beach Half Marathon 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 31 March 2020 — $50,
from 1 April till 31 August 2020 — $60,
1—30 September 2020 — $65,
1—31 October 2020 — $70,
1—30 November 2020 — $75,
1—31 December 2020 — $80,
from 1 January 2021 — $90.

A sign-up service fee (about 7%) is extra paid.

Double registration offers are available: Shark Challenge (Saturday 7k + Sunday marathon) and Dolphin Challenge (Saturday 7k + Sunday half marathon). Finishers that were registered for both a Saturday and a Sunday race, receive 3 shirts, 3 medals and 4 beer tickets for Sunday’s post-race party.

Your Marathon or Half Marathon Race Entry includes:

You may pick up the Race Pack with your bib number at the Expo of the Big Beach Marathon 2021 at the Lodge of Gulf State Park (21196 East Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores).
Pick-up desks schedule:
30 January 2021 (Saturday) from 12:00 till 18:00,
31 January 2021 (Sunday) on race day from 6:15 till 7:45 near the Start Line.

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Big Beach Marathon 2021.
