The Big Beach Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Gulf Shores, state of Alabama, USA. The official name of the event is The Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon. About 1.200 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (281 runners completed marathon and 436 finished half marathon in 2021).
The Big Beach Marathon is an official Boston Qualifier.

The marathon race of 26.2mi/42.195km starts at 8:00 30 January 2022 (Sunday) on 101 E Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores near The Hangout Restaurant.
Half Marathon race, 13.1mi/21.097km (Big Beach Half Marathon)
The half marathon race of 13.1mi/21.097km starts simultaneously with the marathon at 8:00 30 January 2022 (Sunday) on 101 E Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores near The Hangout Restaurant.
4.3mi/7km Race (7K)
The 4.3mi/7km race starts at 9:00 29 January 2022 (Saturday) at the Gulf State Park Pavillion (22250 E Beach Blvd, Gulf Shores, AL 36542).

Post-race party (Big Beach Marathon Party Palooza)
The post-race party takes place 30 January 2022 (Sunday) till 16:00 in The Hangout Restaurant (101 E Beach Blvd, Gulf Shores, AL 36542).
Free beer and snacks for runners, food and live music.
The course of the Big Beach Marathon 2022 tracks through the paved trail system of Gulf State Park — a public recreation area on the Gulf of Mexico, around fresh-water lakes: Lake Shelby, Middle Lake and Little Lake. The last 2 miles of the route are along the road parallel to the white beach.
The course passes on asphalt trail, across wooden bridges and boardwaks over marshes. Alligators might show up if you are lucky.
The course of the Big Beach Half Marathon 2022 coincides with part of the marathon route.
Start and finish for the Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon 2022 are near The Hangout Restaurant in Gulf Shores, on 101 E Beach Boulevard.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 7 hours, for the half marathon distance — 3 hours 30 minutes.
Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 1.5 to 2 miles of the route, and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, Base Hydro electrolyte drink.
Before the start 30 January 2022 (Sunday), you may leave your personal belongings near the Start and Finish Line — at the Hangout under the Mermaid (small) stage.
The route of the Big Beach Marathon 2022 is certified by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field (USATF).

If slots are available you may sign up for the races 29—20 January 2022 (Saturday — Sunday, including the race day) on the spot.
The entry fee for the Big Beach Marathon 2022 varies depending on the date of purchase:

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Big Beach Marathon 2022.
