The Surf City Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Huntington Beach, state of California, USA. The official name of the event is Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon presented by 361°. Around 12,000 athletes participate in the marathon race and other competitions. In 2023, 1,248 runners completed the marathon, and 7,545 finished the half marathon.
Prior to 2008, the Surf City Marathon was known as the Pacific Shoreline Marathon.
The Surf City Marathon is an official Boston Marathon qualifier.
The Surf City Marathon 2024 is a qualifying event for the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group World Championship.

Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon 2023
Marathon race, 26.2mi/42.195km (Surf City Marathon)
The marathon race, covering a distance of 26.2mi/42.195km, starts at 6:30 4 February 2024 (Sunday) from the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Huntington Street in Huntington Beach.
Age limit: at least 18 years old on race date.
Half Marathon race, 13.1mi/21.097km (Surf City Half Marathon)
The half marathon race, spanning a distance of 13.1mi/21.097km, commences at 7:45 4 February 2024 (Sunday) from the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Huntington Street in Huntington Beach.
Age limit: at least 13 years old on race date.
The Surf City Marathon 2024 course predominantly follows the oceanfront, passing by the Huntington Beach pier, winding through Huntington Beach streets and Huntington Central Park, and skirting the Bolsa Chica State Ecological Reserve.
The Surf City Half Marathon 2024 course aligns with a section of the marathon route.
The starting and finishing points for all races of the Surf City Marathon 2024 are situated at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Huntington Street in Huntington Beach.
The finish is located one block north of the start.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours 30 minutes, and for the half marathon distance, it’s 3 hours 30 minutes. Additional limits are applied to certain points of the course.
The pacemakers of the Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon 2024 provide the necessary pacing to help you finish within a specific time. The goal finish times for the marathon are as follows: 3:05, 3:15, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:45, 4:50, 5:00, and 5:10 hours. For the half marathon, the target times are: 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:30, 2:40, 2:50, and 3:00 hours.
Water and nutrition stations are positioned approximately every 1-2 miles along the route, including the finish line. These stations offer runners drinking water, sports drinks, and Chargel energy gel. Finishers receive beverages, snacks, and beer.
Starting from 6:00 on 4 February 2024 (Sunday), you can leave your personal belongings near the Start Line under the big tent at the Huntington Beach Parking Lots (21291 Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA 92648). Your items must be packed in a clear event-issued deposit bag, which is included in your Race Pack along with your bib number. Please ensure you retrieve your bag no later than 13:00.
The route of the Surf City Marathon 2024 is certified by the Road Running Technical Council of USA Track & Field (USATF).

If you complete the Beach Mile on 3 February 2024 (Saturday) and any of the Sunday races, you will receive an additional Cowabunga Challenge medal.
If you participate in the Surf City Marathon or Half Marathon for three consecutive years, you become a member of the Longboard Legacy Program and receive additional perks.

To receive your Race Pack, you need to present your photo ID and confirmation email.
You can also authorize another person online to collect your Race Pack. The collecting person must provide a copy of your ID and your confirmation email. A proxy can pick up packs for up to 3 people.
No health certificate is required to participate in any race of the Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon 2024.
