The Stockholm Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Stockholm, Sweden. The official name of the event is ASICS Stockholm Marathon. About 16.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (12.359 runners completed marathon in 2019).
In 2019, the Ethiopian athlete Nigussie Sahlesilassie finished the Stockholm Marathon with the result of 2:10:10 hours and set a new course record.
In 2020, the Stockholm Marathon was cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, it was possible to take part in a virtual race.
2 songs were composed in honor of the Stockholm Marathon. In 1982, Thore Skogman, also a finisher of the Stockholm Marathon, released the song “Följa John i Stockholm Marathon” (“Follow John at the Stockholm Marathon“). In 2009, Kenneth Fridén recorded “Stockholm Marathon” composition.
The Stockholm Half Marathon (Ramboll Stockholm Halvmarathon) is held in September.

Marathon race, 26.2mi/42.195km (ASICS Stockholm Marathon)
The marathon race of 26.2mi/42.195km starts at 12:00 and at 12:10 5 June 2021 (Saturday) from Lidingövägen street, outside the Clock Tower of Stockholm Olympic Stadium (Stockholms Olympiastadion).
Age limit: from 18 years old on 31 December 2021.
3.1mi/5km Race (ASICS Stockholm High Five)
The 3.1mi/5km race starts at 17:30 4 June 2021 (Friday) from Stockholm Olympic Stadium (Stockholms Olympiastadion, Lidingövägen, 114 33 Stockholm).
Entry fee: €22—34 (without time measuring chip), €27—39 (with time measuring chip).
Pasta Party (ZETA Pasta Party)
The traditional pasta carbo-load is held 4 June 2021 (Friday) near Stockholm Olympic Stadium (Stockholms Olympiastadion, Lidingövägen, 114 33 Stockholm).
Every participant gets a voucher for pasta, bread and drink.
The course of the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 passes through 7 districts of Swedish capital: Östermalm, Vasastan, Kungsholmen, Old town (Gamla stan), Djurgården, Södermalm, Norrmalm.
The route runs along the shores of the bays (including Riddarfjärden and Saltsjön), waterways and canals of the lake Mälaren, draining into the Baltic Sea. Runners cross many bridges, one of the major Stockholm bridges — Västerbron is among them, it offers panoramic view of the old town.

Start of the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 is on Lidingövägen street, outside the Clock Tower of Stockholm Olympic Stadium (Stockholms Olympiastadion).
Finish is close to the start, it is inside Stockholm Olympic Stadium (Stockholms Olympiastadion, Lidingövägen, 114 33 Stockholm), which owns the world record of world records: 83 world records in different sport disciplines were set on this arena.

The Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 participants are divided into starting blocks according to the results of the previous races.
Time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours 30 minutes.
The pace makers of the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. The pace makers can be recognized by balloons marked with the corresponding finish time. Target times for marathon are 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:15 and 5:30 hours.
About 20 water and nutrition stations are located on the marathon route. The stations provide runners with drinking water, isotonic drink Enervit, soda, fruit, energy bars, coffee, clear broth, energy tablets, soft drinks, salted cucumbers, water for refreshing sponges.
Before the start runners may leave their personal belongings in the deposit area on the stadium Östermalms IP (Fiskartorpsvägen 2, 114 33 Stockholm) near the start and finish zone. There are also changing facilities and showers on the stadium.
The route of the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and the Swedish Athletics Association (Svenska Friidrottsförbundet).

The entry fee for the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
17—22 September 2020 — 88 € (for early bird registration you get free Race T-shirt);
from 23 September till 1 November 2020 — 92 €;
from 2 November 2020 till 7 February 2021 — 100 €;
from 8 February till 28 May 2021 — 110 €;
3—4 June 2021 at the Expo — 120 €.
You and your friends may sign up as a team and participate in team competition. Each team must consist of 4 runners. Every member gets free Race T-shirt.
If race is cancelled or participant limit is reduced due to COVID-19 the entry fee will be partly refunded. More info is here.

The time is measured using electronic chip which is fixed on the shoe. Chip is to be returned after the race.

You may authorize another person to collect your Race Pack. The collecting person needs to present your ID with photo or your confirmation letter.
No health certificate is required to enter the Stockholm Marathon (ASICS Stockholm Marathon) 2021.
