The Porto Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Porto, Portugal. The official name of the event is Maratona do Porto EDP. About 15.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (3.762 runners completed marathon in 2019).
In 2020 the Porto Marathon was cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
The Porto Marathon 2021 is a qualifying event for the Abbott WMM Wanda Age group World Championships.

The marathon race of 26.2mi/42.195km starts at 9:00 7 November 2021 (Sunday) from Via do Castelo do Queijo near the city park Parque da Cidade do Porto.
Age limit: born in 2001 or earlier.
6.2mi/10km Race (Family Race)
The 6.2mi/10km race starts simultaneously with the marathon at 9:00 7 November 2021 (Sunday) from Via do Castelo do Queijo near the city park Parque da Cidade do Porto.
Age limit: born in 2003 or earlier.
Entry fee: €12—20.
3.7mi/6km Race (Fun Race)
The 3.7mi/6km race starts at 9:00 7 November 2021 (Sunday) from Via do Castelo do Queijo near the city park Parque da Cidade do Porto.
No age limit.
Entry fee: €6—10.
The course of the Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 tracks within the Porto Metropolitan Area (Área Metropolitana do Porto). The route goes around the city park Parque da Cidade do Porto to the town of Matosinhos and back, past the installation She Changes (aka Anémona), Fort of São Francisco do Queijo (Castelo do Queijo), one of Portugal’s major seaports Porto de Leixões. The river Leça (Rio Leça) is crossed over the bridge Ponte móvel de Leça. Marathoners run along the ocean coast and the right bank of the Douro River, turn over near Freixo and repeat their route to the finish line.

The start of the Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 is on Via do Castelo do Queijo near the city park Parque da Cidade do Porto.
The finish is not far from the start, on Avenida do Parque, next to the Parque da Cidade do Porto.

The Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 participants are divided into starting blocks according to the expected finish time.
The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours.
The pace makers of the Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. The pace makers can be recognized by flags or balloons marked with the corresponding finish time. Finish times for marathon are following: 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45 hours.
Water and nutrition stations are located every 5km of the route and at the finish. Additional stations are installed in case of hot weather. The stations provide runners with drinking water Vitalis, isotonic drink Powerade, fruit, marmalade, water for sponges. Finishers also get beer Super Bock.
Before the start you may leave your personal belongings in the deposit area. The stuff must be packed in a bag, marked with your bib number.
The route of the Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

The entry fee for the Porto Marathon (Maratona do Porto EDP) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
till 30 June 2021 — €50;
from 1 July till 31 August 2021 — €60;
1—30 September 2021 — €70;
from 1 October till 2 November 2021 — €80;
5—6 November 2021 at the Expo — €100.
Till 7 October 2021, you may switch to another distance (with surcharge if applicable) or transfer your registration to another person (for a fee of €5). More info is here.
