The Hannover Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Hannover, Germany. The official name of the event is HAJ Hannover Marathon. About 27.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (2.223 runners completed marathon and 8.574 finished half marathon in 2019).
The Hannover Marathon is one of the World Athletics Label Races and the European Ahtletics Quality Road Race.
The Hannover Marathon is a member of German Road Races group.
In 2019 Hannover Marathon course record in women’s category was broken: Kenyan Racheal Mutgaa achieved 2:26:15.
In 2020 and in 2021 the Hannover Marathon was cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus.

The marathon race of 26.2mi/42.195km starts at 9:00 3 April 2022 (Sunday) from Friedrichswall Street near Trammplatz Square.

A roundtrip course of the Hannover Marathon (HAJ Hannover Marathon) 2022 tracks through the streets of Hannover and along the shores of artificial lake Maschsee.

The Hannover Half Marathon 2022 participants are divided into starting blocks according to the results of the previous races.
The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours and 3 hours 15 minutes for the half marathon. Finish zone closes at 15:00.
The pace makers of the Hannover Marathon (HAJ Hannover Marathon) and Half Marathon 2022 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. The pace makers can be recognized by their outfits and balloons marked with the corresponding finish time. Finish times for marathon are 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00 hours, for half marathon —1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30 hours.
Water and nutrition stations, toilets are located every 4km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, Coca Cola, apple spritzer, energy gel Maxxprosion, fruit, water for sponges. Additionally after the finish every athlete gets Finisher Bag with snacks, non-alcoholic beer Erdinger, isotonic Isostar.
Before the start runners may leave their personal belongings in the deposit zone near the start and finish.
You may change and have a shower close to the finish on Langensalzastraße.
The route of the Hannover Marathon (HAJ Hannover Marathon) 2022 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and by the German Athletics Association (Deutschen Leichtathletik-Verbande).

Time measurement at the races of the Hannover Marathon (HAJ Hannover Marathon) 2022 is done with the ChampionChip (a small plastic transponder that is to be fastened on your running shoe and measures your personal race time).
You need either to rent a chip (€6) or to buy it (€31). The purchased chip can be used for many different running, cycling or triathlon events worldwide.
If you don’t return the rented chip within 2 hours after the race you will be charged additional €25 and the chip will be yours.
If you have a ChampionChip of your own you should enter its number in the registration form while signing up for a race and show it for the control while collecting your Race Pack.
