The Istanbul Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Istanbul, Turkey. The official name of the event is N Kolay Istanbul Maratonu. About 25.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (1.473 runners completed marathon in 2020).
The first transcontinental marathon in Istanbul was held in 1979.
The Istanbul Marathon is one of the World Athletics Elite Label Races.

Marathon race, 26.2mi/42.195km (N Kolay Istanbul Maratonu)
The marathon race of 26.2mi/42.195km starts at 9:00 7 November 2021 (Sunday) from Kennedy Avenue (Kennedy Caddesi) near the port Yenikapı.
Age limit: at least 18 years old on race day.
9.3mi/15km Race (15K Yarış)
The 9.3mi/15km race starts at 9:15 7 November 2021 (Sunday) in 250 m from the 15 July Martyrs Bridge (15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü), former Bosphorus Bridge.
Age limit: at least 16 years old on race day.
Entry fee: €45—85.
The course of the Istanbul Marathon (N Kolay Istanbul Maratonu) 2021 runs from the European part of Istanbul to the Asian one, crosses the inlet Golden Horn (Haliç) along the bascule Galata Bridge (Galata Köprüsü) and the Strait of Istanbul (İstanbul Boğazı) along the 15 July Martyrs Bridge (15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü) 1.560 m in length. The route follows the coast of the Sea of Marmara (Marmara Denizi).
Start and finish for all races of the Istanbul Marathon (N Kolay Istanbul Maratonu) 2021 is on Kennedy Avenue (Kennedy Caddesi) near the port Yenikapı in European part of Istanbul.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours. Additional limits are applied for certain points of the course.
Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 2.5km (1.5 miles) of the route beginning at km 5 and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, sports drink, sugar, fruit, refreshing sponges.
Before the start, you may leave your personal belongings in the deposit tents next to the start zone till 8:30 7 November 2021 (Sunday). The stuff must be packed in an event-issued deposit bag; you should attach to your bag a sticker that has your race number on it. The sticker and the bag are included in your Race Pack along with your bib number. Show your bib number to get your bag back after the race.
The route of the Istanbul Marathon (N Kolay Istanbul Maratonu) 2021 is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
