The course of the New York City Half Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 tracks through the streets and parks of New York City, from Brooklyn to Manhattan, across the East River via the Manhattan Bridge, along the Lower East Side, up to Midtown, and through iconic Times Square.

Mile signs and clocks are posted at every mile of the route.

The participants of the New York City Half Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 are divided into starting waves and corrals based on their anticipated finish time entered during registration or recent fastest finish time.

The pace makers of the New York City Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. The pace makers can be identified by their colored outfits and flags marked with the corresponding finish time. Finish times for half marathon range from 1:19 to 2:30 hours.

Water and nutrition stations are located approximately every 1.5mi/2.5km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with water, Gatorade Endurance gel.

Before the start 20 March 2022 (Sunday), you may leave your personal belongings near the start zone. The stuff must be packed in a clear deposit bag, you should attach to your bag a tag that has your race number on it. The tag and the bag are included in your Race Pack along with your bib number. The checked bags are transported to the finishing area.

Entry limit of the New York City Half Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 is less than the number of applications. Some runners are eligible for a guaranteed entry, others apply for a non-guaranteed entry (lottery).

Non-guaranteed entry via lottery

You may apply online for a New York City Half Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 entry through the non-guaranteed entry lottery. Random drawing selects half marathon runners after registration of non-guaranteed applicants.

Lottery application deadline: from 18 November to 1 December 2021.

You pay nothing to enter the lottery. You must provide credit card information as a part of the application process. The entry fee is processed automatically when your application is approved or selected through the drawing.

Lottery applicants get notified via email of their entry status after 8 December 2021.

Guaranteed entry for time qualifiers

Fast runners may get a guaranteed personal race entry for the New York City Half Marathon (United Airlines NYC Half) 2022 if they submit a result of the previous race run after 1 January 2019.
