The Brisbane Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Brisbane, Australia. The official name of the event is Brisbane Marathon Festival. About 4.000 athletes take part in marathon race and other competitions (453 runners completed marathon and 1.367 finished half marathon in 2019).

The Brisbane Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

In 2020 the Brisbane Marathon Festival was cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, Virtual Run Festival was held in June 2020.

The 3.1mi/5km race starts at 10:30 6 June 2021 (Sunday) from Riverstage in Brisbane.

Age limit: from 4 years old on the race date. Children under the age of 7 on event day must be accompanied by an adult (with an entry fee for any distance).

Entry fee: €19—28 (AUD 30—45) for adults, €13—22 (AUD 20—35) for youth under 18 years old.

Course

The course of the Brisbane Marathon (Brisbane Marathon Festival) 2021 tracks through streets and parks of Brisbane, alongside the Brisbane River. The route crosses the river over the heritage-listed Story Bridge, the longest cantilever bridge in Australia; over the Go Between Bridge, named after the indie rock band The Go-Betweens, which was formed in Brisbane; and over the pedestrian Goodwill Bridge.

The start of the Brisbane Marathon (Brisbane Marathon Festival) and Half Marathon (BHP Half Marathon) 2021 is on Colchester Street in Brisbane.

The finish for all the races is at Riverstage (59 Gardens Point Road) in the City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane.

The time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours, 3 hours for the half marathon. Additional limits are applied for certain points of the course.

The pace makers of the Brisbane Marathon (Brisbane Marathon Festival) and Half Marathon 2021 provide the necessary pace in order to finish within a certain time. Finish times for marathon are following: 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30 hours. These are half marathon target times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:10 hours.

Water and nutrition stations along the route provide runners with drinking water, ‘Infinit Speed mix’ isotonic drink. Finishers get snacks and refreshments.

Before the start 6 June 2021 (Sunday), you may leave your personal belongings in the gear tent at the event precinct (59 Gardens Point Road), Riverstage, Brisbane. The stuff must be packed in a bag, marked with a tag that has your race number on it. All participants receive a special tear off tag on bib numbers in their Race Packs.

The routes of the Brisbane Marathon (Brisbane Marathon Festival) and Half Marathon 2021 are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

Registration

You may sign up for races of the Brisbane Marathon Festival 2021 online.

The online registration is open till 4 June 2021.

If slots are available you may sign up for the races 5 June 2021 (Saturday) at Event Precinct, Riverstage (59 Gardens Point Road), Brisbane.

If you want your name printed on your bib then you must register till 10 April 2021.

The entry fee for the Brisbane Marathon 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
untill 15 March 2021 — €68 (AUD 110),
from 16 March till 12 May 2021 — €74 (AUD 120),
from 13 May till 4 June 2021 — €80 (AUD 130),
5 June 2021 — €83 (AUD 135).

The entry fee for the Brisbane Half Marathon (BHP Half Marathon) 2021 varies depending on the date of purchase:
untill 15 March 2021 — €53 (AUD 85),
from 16 March till 12 May 2021 — €59 (AUD 95),
from 13 May till 4 June 2021 — €65 (AUD 105),
5 June 2021 — €68 (AUD 110).

For a €7 (AUD 10) administration fee, you may transfer your registration to another person, switch to another distance or cancel your registration with a refund. More info is here.

Your Marathon or Half Marathon Race Entry includes:

Pick-up desks schedule:

To get your Race Pack you should show your ID with photo or registration email.

You may authorize another person to collect your Race Pack. The collecting person needs to present a copy of your registration email or your written permission.

No health certificate is required to enter any race of the Brisbane Marathon Festival 2021.
