The Dusseldorf Marathon is an annual long-distance running event held in Dusseldorf, Germany. The official name of the event is METRO Marathon Düsseldorf. About 16.000 athletes take part in Marathon race and other competitions (2.497 runners completed marathon and 3.293 finished half marathon in 2019).
The Dusseldorf Marathon is a member of German Road Races group.
In 2020 the Dusseldorf Marathon was cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus.

The roundtrip course of the Dusseldorf Marathon (METRO Marathon Düsseldorf) 2021 tracks through the streets of Dusseldorf on both sides of the Rhine (Rhein), crosses the river over Oberkasseler Brücke which connects Dusseldorf old town with the left-bank district Oberkassel.
The routes of the Dusseldorf Marathon (METRO Marathon Düsseldorf) 2021 are traffic free for the time of races.

The course of the Dusseldorf Half Marathon 2021 partly coincides with the marathon distance, runs only on the right bank of the Rhine (Rhein).

Finish is not far from the start, it is located on Rheinuferpromenade near Burgplatz square, the centre of Dusseldorf old town.

Time limit for completing the marathon is 6 hours, for the half marathon distance — 3 hours.
Water and nutrition stations, toilets are located every 5km of the route and at the finish. The stations provide runners with drinking water, isotonic drink, fruit, energy gel, Cola, water to wet sponges. Finishers also get non-alcoholic beer Erdinger, doughnuts and savoury biscuits.
Before the start runners may leave their personal belongings in the deposit zone: at Burgplatz square for marathoners, near Reuterkaserne street for half marathon and relay runners. The stuff must be packed in the official METRO Marathon Düsseldorf Kit Bag (it is included in your Race Pack along with your bib number and a sticker); the bag is to be marked with the sticker that has your race number on it.
